Udayana University Archaeology Students Has Finished the MBKM RIIM BRIN in Bumiayu and the North Serayu Mountains
Denpasar, July 10th, 2025 - MBKM Research and Innovation for Advanced Indonesia (RIIM) program "Exploration of Civilization in the Bumiayu Region and the North Serayu Mountains" Batch I, organized by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), officially ended on July 10, 2025. This activity has been running during the 1 semester followed by 6 students namely, Arief Catur Pamungkas, Irfan Maullana Azizy, Glorya Rosniat Waruwu, Agung Purba, Muhammad Alfian Ardi Nugraha, and Abhista Ramadhani Wicaksono. The MBKM RIIM activities were carried out through online meetings and on fields. After carrying out this very long activity, the students were involved as a research internship team from a few of Archaeology disciplines.
During this program, students have received online pre-departure lectures per research groups and introductory lectures such as an introduction to Environmental Archaeology, Archaeological Excavation, and the use of drones. After the pre-departure lecture and introductory training, participants are given supporting training in the form of geoelectric training and GPR training. MBKM RIIM participants then conducted field survey activities to be used as an excavation site which was carried out on June 19 - July 4, 2025. The participants also classified and identified the objects found in the archaeology lab.
"We feel that the MBKM RIIM activity is very helpful in exploring our potential in the field of archaeology.” said Arief Catur Pamungkas, one of the representative students. He believes the MBKM RIIM program has had a positive impact on his studies in archaeology. This activity provides a great opportunity for students to gain information and gain hands-on experience in the field. In his report, Arief wrote and documented various positive activities during the MBKM RIIM, including: Jungle Survival, Measuring Section, Excavation, and Management of Findings.
In closing and farewell activities of MBKM RIIM, Students are required to submit a report on their activities during the MBKM RIIM period and are evaluated together with lecturers and also their supervisors in the field. The event proceeded smoothly and was memorable for all involved. With the conclusion of the evaluation, followed by the closing and farewell ceremonies, the first batch of MBKM RIIM "Exploration of Civilization in the Bumiayu Region and the North Serayu Mountains" activities has reached the end.
The students expressed their gratitude to the campus and lecturers who have fully supported the students in the MBKM RIIM activities and also the scientific guidance before the participants took part in the MBKM RIIM "Exploration of Civilization in the Bumiayu Area and North Serayu Mountains" Batch I. It is hoped that this will provide many benefits for students after being mentored to become prospective archaeologists and young researchers for six months at KSL Bumiayu.
