Opening Penelitian Arkeologi Terpadu Indonesia (PATI) 2024 in Sangiran

Penelitian Arkeologi Terpadu Indonesia (PATI) 2024 was officially opened on August 6 2024 at the Sangiran Ancient Museum, Bukuran Cluster, Central Java. This year's PATI is a joint field research activity involving six universities with archeology study programs, namely Jambi University, Indonesia University, Gadjah Mada University, Udayana University, Hasanuddin University, and Halu Oleo University . In addition, the Indonesian Art Institute Surakarta also participated as part of the creative work team, demonstrating strong multidisciplinary collaboration in enriching archaeological activities in Indonesia.

In this year's edition, PATI was coordinated by the Archeology Study Program, Faculty of Arts, Udayana University with the Head of the PATI Program, Rochtri Agung Bawono. Activities took place at the Manyarejo Site, Sangiran Cultural Heritage Area, Sragen Regency, Central Java, from 5 to 14 August 2024. This location is an important archaeological site known as a center for the discovery of ancient human fossils and other artifacts, making it an ideal place to archaeological research and exploration activities.

PATI 2024 includes various main activities, including excavation, conservation, cultural resource management (CRM), as well as a creative work program guided by a team from ISI Surakarta. The presence of ISI Surakarta brings a new dimension to the approach to cultural heritage, combining artistic and archaeological expertise to create richer and more meaningful interpretations of the finds at the site.

PATI's activities are also supported by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Indonesian Heritage Agency, which involves museums and cultural heritage sites throughout Indonesia. Funding for this activity was sponsored by the  Yayasan Arsari Djojohadikusumo (YAD), which is committed to preserving Indonesia's cultural heritage.
