Opening of PATI 2025 at the Sangiran Ancient Museum Cluster Bukuran
Sragen, August 5, 2025 - Indonesian Archaeological Research (PATI) 2025 was officially opened on August 5, 2025 at the Ancient Museum of Sangiran Bukuran Cluster, Central Java. This activity involves six universities with archaeology study programs, namely Udayana University, University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Halu Oleo University, Hasanuddin University, and Jambi University. Unlike the previous year, this year's PATI is only divided into two teams, namely conservation and excavation.
PATI 2025 is collaborative and involves all universities to be actively involved in this event. The activity will take place at Manyarejo Site, Sangiran Ancient Human Cultural Heritage Area, Sragen Regency, Central Java, from August 5 to August 20, 2025. From year to year this program has provided experience and scientific understanding of prehistoric research, conservation techniques, and Cultural Heritage management. The results of the PATI program are also used as material for students' final assignments.
PATI 2025 activities are divided into several activities, namely debriefing classes, field excursions, excavation, conservation, and laboratory analysis. Students have been divided into six teams consisting of four excavation teams and two conservation teams. On July 28 to July 30, 2025, PATI 2025 participants were given online briefing classes on conservation, excavation, paleontology, geoarchaeology, and on writing and publication to support students' theoretical understanding before going to the field.
PATI 2025 is supported by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and sponsored by the Arsari Djojohadikusumo Foundation (YAD), which is committed to the preservation of Indonesia's cultural regions. Yayasan Arsari Djojohadikusumo (YAD) hopes that this activity will be able to explore and understand more about cultural heritage and provide benefits for life, especially in Manyarejo.
Students from the Udayana University Archaeology Study Program involved in PATI 2025 are Maulana Hadi Wijaya (class of 2023), Muh. Alfian Ardi Nugroho (class of 2022), Glorya Rosniat Waruwu (class of 2022), and Valentha Joe Trisnadjati (class of 2022) in the excavation team, and Mouzalina Raisha Anfal (class of 2023) and I Gusti Putu Alit Mahendra (class of 2022) in the conservation team. The students had the opportunity to engage in hands-on research and network with all participants from other universities.
PATI 2025 is a cross-university learning space that not only enriches students' archaeological insights, but also strengthens collaboration in order to preserve Indonesia's cultural heritage. Through this activity, it is hoped that the spirit of the younger generation will grow to continue to maintain and care for Indonesia's cultural heritage in a sustainable manner.
