Benchmarking of the Archeology Study Program at Udayana University to the Ethnographic Museum and Center for the Study of Death Traditions, Faculty of Political Science, Airlangga University. Airlangga University
Surabaya, 21 June 2024 - Several student representatives and lecturers from the Archeology study program at Udayana University, namely Mrs. Coleta Titasari, S.S., M.Si and Mr. Kadek Dedy Prawirajaya, S.S., M.Si, carried out Benchmarking activities at the Ethnographic Museum and the Center for the Study of Death Traditions, Faculty of Science Airlangga University Politics. This activity aims to broaden students' insight and knowledge regarding various aspects of archeology and anthropology.
During this visit, students had the opportunity to see various collections at the Ethnographic Museum and the Center for the Study of Death Traditions, Airlangga University, which are managed directly under the auspices of the Anthropology study program. This museum presents various artifacts, documentation and replicas related to various death rituals from various cultures in Indonesia. Students learn about the various symbols and practices used in death ceremonies in various unique regions in Indonesia.
Apart from that, students also took part in Bone Class activities organized by the Anthropology study program at Airlangga University. This activity was guided by Mr Delta Bayu Murti who is a lecturer in Anthropology at Airlangga University. This Bone Class provides an in-depth understanding of the identification and analysis of human bones. In this class, students are taught basic techniques for identifying bones and understanding a person's health condition and lifestyle based on bone analysis.
It is hoped that this comparative study visit can become a new lesson that can enrich knowledge of Archeology from an Anthropological perspective which turns out to be interconnected with each other and also strengthen collaboration between Udayana University and Airlangga University, as well as improve the quality of student education through direct and interactive learning experiences .
