Visit by The Archaeology Program To Employers of Graduate

Denpasar, 7 April 2026 - On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the Head of the Archaeology Program at the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, Zuraidah, S.S., M.Si., along with the Chair of the IAAI Regional Chapter for Bali-NTB-NTT, Rochtri Agung Bawono, S.S., M.Si., and a lecturer from the Archaeology Program, Kristiawan, S.S., M.A., paid a visit to one of the institutions that employs graduates of the Archaeology Program, namely the Bali Cultural Preservation Centre, located on Pejeng Tampaksiring Street, Gianyar Regency. The purpose of this visit was to discuss enhancing cooperation between the Archaeology Program and the Bali Cultural Preservation Centre. The delegation was received by the Head of the Bali Cultural Preservation Office, Iskandar Eko Priyotomo, S.S., M.Hum., and the Head of the Sub-Division, I Gusti Agung Gede Artanegara, S.Kom. The meeting began with a presentation of the Archaeology Program’s work plan, the implementation of which involves the Bali Cultural Preservation Office. A request was also made for the involvement of faculty members from the Archaeology Program as experts in activities and policy-making related to cultural heritage sites. In addition to faculty, the involvement of students in cultural heritage preservation activities such as conservation, documentation, and inventory of cultural heritage sites was also proposed. This experience will be essential when students pursue competency certification. On this occasion, various issues regarding cultural heritage in Bali from an academic perspective were also raised, for which solutions need to be found immediately.

The Head of the Bali Cultural Heritage Agency, Iskandar Eko Priyotomo, S.S., M.Hum., responded very positively to the presentation on the collaboration. He expressed his support for and emphasized the importance of collaboration among various parties in preserving cultural heritage sites. The preservation of cultural heritage cannot be carried out by a single party alone. He suggested that the university explore cultural heritage issues that could be elevated to the national level and frame them academically. He also expressed his commitment to facilitating the continuation of the existing collaboration between the Archaeology Program at the Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, and the Bali Cultural Agency.
