Two Archaeology Students Participate in the Kartini Symposium (Kartini Fest) Delegation in Jepara
Denpasar, May 3, 2026 – Two students from the Archaeology Program, Faculty of Humanities, Udayana University, Lalu Sunandy Teguh Drayananta and Vierani Alya Setyawan, class of 2024, participated as delegates in the Kartini Symposium (Kartini Fest) held on May 2–3, 2026, in Jepara, Central Java.
The Central Java Provincial Government organized this event with support from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia as part of the 2026 Kartini Culture and Inspiration Forum, which highlighted the theme “Empowered, Creative, and Cultured Women.”
Delegates from various regions across Indonesia attended Kartini Fest, including Jepara local officials, ministry representatives, and other guests. This event served as a platform to commemorate the spirit of R.A. Kartini’s struggle while opening a space for discussion on history, culture, and the role of women in Indonesia.
On the first day, participants took part in a series of city tours in the Jepara area. The activities began with a visit to the Tomb of Ratu Kalinyamat, one of the most significant female figures in Jepara’s history. Afterward, participants visited the Kartini Museum to view the collection of artifacts and gain a deeper understanding of R.A. Kartini’s life journey and struggles. The first day’s activities concluded with a visit to Layang-Layang Beach to enjoy the sunset with the entire delegation.
On the second day, the main Kartini Fest event took place, featuring various activities such as an exhibition of local SME products and health screening services. Additionally, there were talk show sessions and inspirational discussions with several speakers, including the Head of the P3A (PPPA) Division of Jepara, Geza Pramono, as a historical influencer, and other speakers from various fields. The theme of the talk show session was “Sustainable Culture, Self-Reliant Indonesia.” In the evening, the activities continued with a Cultural Night to conclude the series of events. This event featured paintings themed around Kartini, art performances, musical performances, and other forms of entertainment.
Participation in this event provided a valuable experience for students to broaden their cultural knowledge, expand their networks with participants from various regions, and foster a spirit among the younger generation to continue preserving the values of the struggle of Indonesian women. Additionally, visits to historical sites and museums provided a relevant experience for Archaeology students to understand cultural heritage firsthand.
It is hoped that through participation in this event, Archaeology students from Udayana University will continue to actively engage in other national forums, uphold the institution’s reputation, and become a generation of young people committed to cultural preservation and national values in the future.
