Participation of Archaeology Program Students in the 2026 Udayana University Faculty of Humanities Student Sports Week and Jegeg Bagus Event

Denpasar, June 19 – The Student Senate of the Faculty of Humanities (SMFIB), Udayana University, organized a series of activities, namely the Student Sports Week (Pekan Olahraga Mahasiswa/POM) from May 3 to June 20, 2026, and the Jegeg Bagus Faculty of Humanities 2026 competition from May 27 to June 5, 2026. Both events served as platforms for students to develop their interests, talents, potential, athletic abilities, and personal character. On this occasion, students in the Archaeology Study Program actively participated and achieved several notable accomplishments. 

The Student Sports Week (POM) and Jegeg Bagus are annual events involving all study programs within the Faculty of Humanities at Udayana University. Through these events, students are allowed to compete in a spirit of sportsmanship while strengthening relationships among students across different study programs. Both events serve as a platform for students to develop their interests, talents, and character.

During this year’s POM, students from the Archaeology Program participated in various sports events and demonstrated a high level of competitive spirit throughout the event. This year’s POM was themed “Asta Vira Sangrama Jayati,” which means “eight warriors in one arena, fighting for honor.” The event featured 10 sports, including e-sports, and Archaeology students participated in 8 of the contested events.

On this occasion, the Archaeology Program sent a large number of students to serve as both competitors and supporters throughout the event. This participation yielded impressive results, with the Archaeology Program contingent achieving several notable accomplishments. The achievements included 1st place in basketball, 3rd place in futsal, 3rd place in chess, and 3rd place in table tennis. These successes are a testament to the students’ hard work, dedication, perseverance, and enthusiasm in upholding the good name of the Archaeology Study Program.

One of the futsal team representatives, Zakki, expressed his pride in the achievements of the entire Archaeology team.

“I feel proud and would like to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has given their all for Warma. May we remain united in the future, and most importantly, everything Warma has achieved is because of ‘us.’”

In addition to participating in POM, Archaeology students also took part in the 2026 Faculty of Humanities Jegeg Bagus event, which carried the theme “Pratiwimba Santwa.” This theme reflects the figures of Jegeg and Bagus, who not only possess physical charm but are also able to embody calmness, inner balance, and refinement of character in their daily lives. This event serves as a platform for personal development aimed at enhancing students’ communication skills, leadership abilities, cultural awareness, knowledge, and self-confidence.

After successfully passing various stages of selection, representatives from the Archaeology Study Program achieved a notable accomplishment. At the event, Bagus Nantha secured the title of Second Runner-Up for Bagus FIB 2026, while Jegeg Wulan was crowned Jegeg FIB 2026. These achievements are a source of pride for the Archaeology Study Program. In addition to bringing honor to the program, Jegeg Wulan’s success also marks the first step toward representing the Faculty of Humanities at the university-wide Jegeg Bagus competition at Udayana University.

Bagus Nantha shared that participating in the 2026 Jegeg Bagus FIB was one of the most memorable experiences of his life.

“Taking part in the 2026 Jegeg Bagus FIB series of events was an extraordinary, challenging, and deeply memorable experience. Here, I not only learned many new things about public speaking, personal development, and cultural insights, but I also gained a new, very supportive family from various other study programs within the Faculty of Humanities. And of course, I’m very proud to have represented the Archaeology Study Program at this prestigious event.”

Meanwhile, Jegeg Wulan also shared her impressions and message after participating in the entire series of activities.

“Going through the process without any expectations ultimately became my strongest motivation for participating in the 2026 Jegeg Bagus Faculty of Cultural Sciences competition. Her steps weren’t graceful, her movements weren’t easy, and her hopes weren’t grand. Only prayers and a desire to learn accompanied Wulan’s steps day by day. The process was extraordinary, the love was extraordinary, and the cheers were extraordinary. Standing on the Widya Sabha Mandala stage wasn’t easy, but the spirit of the Archaeology students filled the room; my heart was at peace, and my smile blossomed. Thank you so much, Warma, for your love and sincere spirit, for accompanying me through this extraordinary journey. My hope is simple: may our smiles always be bright and radiant, whenever, wherever, and with whomever.”

Fikri, Head of Division IV, who was responsible for overseeing all Archaeology contingents in both POM and Jegeg Bagus, also expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed: 

“I would like to thank all the teams and supporters who helped our beloved  study program win, and I hope that in the future, everyone in the Archaeology Study Program can unite under the name Warma and continue bringing pride to our program together.” 

Appreciation was also expressed by the Coordinator of the Archaeology Study Program and the lecturers, who provided support to all students participating in and representing the Archaeology Study Program in both events. Congratulations were also extended to the Jegeg Bagus finalists who successfully brought honor to the Archaeology Study Program at the faculty level. 

The participation of Archaeology Study Program students in the Student Sports Week and the FIB 2026 Jegeg Bagus competition demonstrates that Archaeology students are not only active in academic pursuits but are also capable of developing their potential in various non-academic fields. It is hoped that these achievements will motivate other students to continue participating in student activities, develop their skills, and uphold the good name of the Archaeology Study Program at both the faculty and university levels.
