Archaeology Study Program Lecturer Serves as a Speaker at a Seminar on the Ceramological Collection of the DR (H.C.) Oemboe Hina Kapita Regional Museum in East Sumba Regency
East Sumba, July 1, 2026 -
The Ceramological Collection Study was conducted from May
25–30, 2026. The research team was led by Kristiawan, S.S., M.A., a lecturer
from the Archaeology Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Udayana,
with M. Dziyaul F. Arrozain, S.Ark., M.A. from Universitas Gadjah Mada serving
as a team member. The study aimed to trace the provenance of the museum's
ceramic collection, which the East Sumba District Court had donated. As
part of the project, the team also carried out archaeological surveys in areas
known for discoveries of imported ceramics, particularly around Lambanapu and Tanau
Village in East Sumba.
The findings of the study, presented in a report on the
provenance and re-identification of the ceramic collection, were disseminated
through a public seminar held at the Dr. (H.C.) Oemboe Hina Kapita Regional
Museum. The event was attended by representatives of the East Sumba Regency
Government, students from the East Sumba Chapter of the Indonesian Christian
Student Movement (GMKI), local history enthusiasts, and members of the
surrounding community. The strong public participation reflected the
community's enthusiasm for local history, particularly the stories behind the
collections preserved at the Dr. (H.C.) Oemboe Hina Kapita Regional Museum.
It is hoped that this event will provide input for the
development of the DR (H.C.) Oemboe Hina Kapita Regional Museum and help
preserve the culture of the Sumba people, particularly in East Sumba Regency.
